Backups & restore

Backup history

Every run on the server — what succeeded, what failed, how big it was, and how to get the archive back out.

Backups → History is the list of every backup run on this server, newest first, across all applications. It is where you go to confirm last night actually happened, to pull an archive down, or to clear out old ones.

The History tab with counters, filters and one complete backup

Reading the page

The four counters across the top describe the rows currently matched by the filters — total, complete, failed, running.

Each row shows the application and its domain, the status, what the backup contains, when it ran and how long it took, and the archive size.

StatusMeaning
RunningThe archive is being built or uploaded.
VerifyingUploaded; the panel is confirming the stored object matches what it sent.
CompleteVerified. Only these can be restored, and only these count towards retention.
FailedThe run stopped at one of the steps. Any partial archive is still listed.

A row may also be tagged Safety copy — a backup the panel took automatically just before a restore. Those are never pruned.

Filters

Four dropdowns narrow the list: application, status, time period and backup type. They are reflected in the URL, so a filtered view is a link you can keep.

The circular button on the right re-reads the list from the server without reloading the page — useful while a run is in flight.

Download an archive

The download button on a row hands back a time-limited link straight to the storage destination. The panel never streams the file itself, so a multi-gigabyte download does not tie up the server.

Downloading is allowed for failed runs too. A partial archive is sometimes exactly what you need to work out what went wrong — restoring from one is what is blocked, not inspecting it.

Delete backups

Tick one or more rows and a bar appears above the table with the count and a Delete button.

Deleting removes the archive from the storage destination as well as the row from the panel. It cannot be undone, and there is no trash to recover it from.

Normally you do not need to: retention prunes old backups on its own after each successful run.

Restore

The red Restore button on a row starts a restore of that backup into its application — see Restore an application. It is only offered on Complete rows.
